St. Mary's-Colgan Catholic High SchoolFacilities |
St. Mary's Colgan High School stands today as a result of the legacy and stewardship of its parishioners. From the late 1930s in the now-lost third floor of the existing grade school, to the 1960 "new" building, to the remodeling and expansion in 1999 for the library and junior high, SMC is alive and well.
The challenge of the late-nineties and its emerging technologies have resulted in the construction and remodeling of a facility originally built in 1960.

The "old" gymnasium is the Monsignor Patrick McCullough Memorial Gymnasium that was first used on December 7, 1951. It served the school well into the nineties, but suffered due to age and growing maintenance issues and to scheduling problems. With the expansion of girl's sports and junior high sports, no one really wanted to practice or play games in the middle of the night. The McCullough Gymnasium is now used for practices and an "overflow" gym for "B" games. The gym is currently being fitted with a new wood floor. |

The St. Mary's Activity Center is a multi-purpose parish center with meeting rooms, kitchen, and athletic facilities. The gymnasium is used for practice and games for basketball and volleyball. ![]() |
The old auditorium had a flat floor with metal folding chairs - basically a big room. The back half of that same space was converted into two classrooms and the front half into a modern auditorium with stadium-style cushion seating and a state-of-the-art control room and sound for theater productions.
The auditorium is also used for school and parish meetings. Future plans call for using the auditorium for distance-learning opportunities.
