The presence of Fine Arts at SMC include both in-class and extracurricular experiences in Art, Music, Theatre, Debate, and Forensics. These programs have always been and continue to be a part of the tradition of St. Mary's-Colgan Catholic High School.
In the high school, course offered are: Debate I, Advanced Debate, and Forensics. During the fall term, the Debate Squad participates in debate tourneys throughout southeast Kansas on many Fridays and Saturdays. Forensics tournaments take place in the spring on most weekends. There are both novice and advanced tournaments.
Art classes allow students to develop creative skills and then go on to the CNC Art Fair for competition. There are theater productions in most years, the most recent was the Production of "Guys and Dolls" during the 1999-2000 school year. The now annual "Fine Arts Day" is always a success, bringing area talent to the high school exposing all students to some facet of the fine arts world.
