Our Parish SchoolsParish, Parent, and Alumni Support |
Schools do not run without the work of many parents, students, teachers, and staff.
The Home and School Association
The Parents-Sisters Association was established in 1936. It originally belonged to the Parents Teachers Association based in Washington, D.C. The members of this organization raised funds for St. Mary's schools and supervised the hot lunch program. The association re-organized and changed its name, more appropriately, to the Home and School Association. The offices were held jointly by husband and wife teams.
The organization is still active in fund raising. Their annual Spring Social raises funds to purchase the many needed accessories for the St. Mary's grade school. At the beginning of each school year, the organization sponsors a get acquainted party. They also hold monthly meetings during the school year for the presentation of educational programs that are a value to parents. For more information about Home and School, contact the Grade School office or the rectory.
Booster Club
The Booster Club provides financial support and enthusiasm to the athletic programs of both the grade and high schools. Concession stands, including the now-famous concession stand at the Four-State Farm Show, helps support various aspects of St. Mary's-Colgan athletics including uniforms, travel, buses, and vans. The vehicles are also used by debate and forensics squads for travel. For more information about the Booster Club, contact the High School office or the rectory.

St. Mary's-Colgan Alumni Association

Frequently lost in the shuffle are the important people who staff the cafeteria and maintain the buildings.
We are very grateful to the Cafeteria Manager Julie Engle and her able cooks: Kathy Fox, Lisa Hulvey, Joyce Seiwert, and Kim Verga. These talented folks feed over hungry students, staff, and faculty every weekday and leave the cafeteria kitchen clean for the next user.
Custodial service at the Grade School and Activity Center is ably provided by Francis Keegan. Mr. Keegan has performed this job for many years and is a friendly face and an excellent steward.
Overall maintenance is provided by Mr. Fix-it, Dwight Boman. From plumbing to electrical, from ceiling to floor, Mr. Boman is ever at the ready to keep the ship afloat.
Mr. Boman and Keegan are the latest of several individuals who have provided important maintenance service. Before Mr. Boman, Mr. Bobby VanBeceleare was instrumental in coordinating and working himself on all the changes associate with the mid-1990s remodeling of the grade school and high school as well as the new addition to the high school. Many appreciate all of his hard work.
